Exam Sessions

The Davis County Amateur Radio Club sponsors a full service Education Program. We can help you learn all you need to know to get your Amateur Radio license. Once you're ready to take your written test for a license, you'll want to know when and where the test sessions are held.

New: DCARC is now pleased to offer practice test .

This "Exam Sessions" page tells you all about DCARC's Radio Exam Sessions.... commonly called VE Sessions. VE stands for "Volunteer Examiner". DCARC's VEs are fully certified to conduct official tests recognized by the FCC

and our VEs will submit your test scores via computer to ensure you'll get your callsign as soon as possible!

DCARC conducts official ARRL VE test sessions three times a year on the first Wednesday of March, July, and November. Testing is always scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm. These tests are usually conducted at the Clearfield City Offices on the 2nd floor. You can find directions by using Google Maps . The address is 55 South State, Clearfiled, UT.

If you are ready to take a test sooner than one of our scheduled exam sessions, you can probably find another session conducted elsewhere in your area. The Utah Amateur Radio Club maintains a very thorough list of Exam Sessions in other areas.

Once you've passed your exam, start watching this page for your new/updated callsign.

Please note the location change for the testing session. If you have your license, the talk-in frequency is 147.040 with PL of 123.0. You can also contact Mike Youngs at 573-3922 for any other questions.

Examinees should bring one of the following forms of picture identification:

Drivers license
Birth certificate and school ID card or similar picture ID.

Licensed Hams desiring to upgrade must bring the original and a photocopy of their license, and/or the original plus a photocopy of any CSCE's earned within a year. The original license/CSCE will be returned while the License photocopy will be retained by the VE team.

You should also bring your own pencils and calculator if you choose to use one. Exact change for the testing fee would be appreciated or checks can be made out to ARRL-VEC.

If you're interested in getting a copy of the Question Pools, visit NCVEC. NCVEC stands for National Conference of Volunteer Examiner Coordinators. When visiting NCVEC, select Amateur Question Pools from the left hand side. Formats include PDF, MSWord, and Text but mainly PDF.
