March 13th DCARC Club Meeting
Storm Spotter Training
By Mike Seaman - KC0SKU of the National Weather Service Salt Lake City Office.
Mike presented to our group in 2006 and later at the Utah RACES conference.
He will be talking about weather spotter training covering such items as:
-
Training primarily consists of a PowerPoint show, presented by a NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS) forecaster
-
Aimed at a broad range of weather hazards including winter storms, fire weather, and flash floods
-
Will address why spotters are needed, what and how to report, general NWS operations, and safety
-
Opportunity for attendees to provide registration information (optional).
Mike graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. degree in meteorology in 2000. He started his NWS career here in Salt Lake City at Western Region Headquarters in 2000, before spending a year at the NWS office in Elko, NV. He then moved to the NWS forecast office in Kansas City, MO where he spent 4 years. In June of 2005 he moved back west to the NWS forecast office here in Salt Lake City, where he is currently a Senior Forecaster.
Before the meeting come join us at the Golden Corral in Layton for Breakfast at 8:00 am.
We are always looking for new suggestions for upcoming Club Meetings.

 It is time for the annual Buffalo Run Races on Antelope Island on March 27th. I am looking for volunteers again. The races are the same as last year with the exception of the start time for one race. We will be using packet from all sites as well as voice. Packet will be on 145.07, and voice will be on the DCARC 147.04 repeater. There will be a feed with the normal buffalo stew. Check out the web page at www.buffalorun.org

For the April 10th Meeting, we are going to put together a special presentation entitled
The Mobile Ham Shack
This will be some what similar to a meeting we did a couple of years ago showing people about their own Ham Shacks but talking about mobile installations. What I am wanting is for you to email to myself at

some pictures of your mobile installation and perhaps a few comments. Get pictures of how you did the radio mount, antenna installation, cable routing, etc. that will be interesting and a benefit to other individuals. We will then combine the pictures into a power point presentation. After the main meeting, we are talking about having a parking lot show and tell.
