Welcome to 2021

Hello Club Members!

I can hardly believe we have made it to 2021.  Club officers had our first meeting together to start planning out the new year.  We are excited for the possibilities that a new year presents.  It is our hope that in a short time, we will be able to gather together again for our Club meetings and other activities.  Until then, we will continue to hold club meetings via ZOOM.

Let me take a minute to introduce myself to those who don’t know me.  I’m Larry, KV7LC.  I first came across Amateur Radio in a 4H Club in Junior High in Fernley, Nevada.  We had a great leader who taught us a lot. Unfortunately, he moved and that ended my experience in the hobby for a time.  Fast forward about 10 years and I found myself in Zions National Park with a group of people, where our trip took much longer than we thought.  We all had cell phones, but they don’t work so well out there.  While repelling down a mountain in almost complete darkness I remembered Ham Radio and thought, I need to look into that if I ever get out of here.  A few months later I earned my Tech ticket and was on the air.  Many years later my family and I moved to Davis County, Utah and I found this group of awesome Hams.  I joined the club and with the help of a few Elmers, I earned my General and then my Amateur Extra licenses.  DCARC has always been a place of help for me, and I have been lucky enough to give back as the webmaster and now as your President.    I have a degree in Information Technology and have had a diverse employment background.  I have a long history in emergency preparedness and non-profit organizations.  For a period of time, I even worked for a Chapter of the American Red Cross as their Director of Education.   I am the proud father of 3 kids (20, 18, and 8 years old) and have a very supportive wife (even though she won’t let me put up a tower, yet).

My goal this year for our Club is to see more opportunities for our members to make an impact in our club and the Amateur Radio Community.    We have some ideas on how to do that, but that will come in future editions of the newsletter.

The Officers and I would like to hear from you about your successes and how the Club can support your efforts more.  If you have any questions, suggestions or even complaints please don’t hesitate to contact me.  You can reach me via email at larry@claussencrew.net or via cell or text at 801-745-5288

Here is to a GREAT 2021!
